Hundreds of people who attended the funeral of two children who died in a car fire in Co Westmeath last week were told they would remain young forever in the hearts of all those they loved.

Thelma Dennany, five, and her brother Mikey, two, died last Friday afternoon after a car caught fire on a country road between Coole and Multyfarnham.

Just after 11am on Thursday morning, a white double coffin was brought into St Mel’s Cathedral in Longford.

On the hearse sat unicorn-shaped flowers and a tractor. Locals say that they can’t come to terms with the tragedy.
