Torrential rain has gripped much of the east coast today and especially this evening when up to 5 inches of rain fell in a two hour period.
Major floods are breaking out as drains have blocked up with the residue of dry weather rubbish and straw hanging around after the dry spell.
Met Eireann have issued strong warnings for driving and walking in such weather.
