Weekend washout: Ireland to be blighted by heavy showers and cold temperatures as Autumn weather takes hold

Met Eireann is predicting a rather wet and unpleasant weekend weather wise, with heavy showers and cold temperatures in store for the next day or two.

There will be widespread rain across much of the country, mixed with the odd sunny spells.

Daytime temperatures will reach 12-15C, but the thermometer will sink back to as low as 3C in some areas.

Early indications point to a similarly unsettled week ahead.
