Welcome to Ireland 2019: Homeless family with five young children forced to sleep on Garda Station floor

Ireland’s homeless crisis has seen yet another dark day as a family were forced to seek refuge in a Dublin Garda Station it has been revealed.

According to Inner City Helping Homeless a family of seven were forced to seek refuge at Store Street Garda Station on Wednesday night.

It is believed that the family with five children two boys and three girls were offered sleeping bags at the Garda Station so they could sleep on the floor.

The situation which has been highlighted on the charity’s Twitter page has been described as a disgrace and it clearly highlighted the ongoing homeless crisis.

According to RTÉ News, the Dublin Region Homeless Executive have revealed that they offered the family an emergency accommodation late last night, it is believed that the mother declined the offer at the emergency accommodation facility.

The Dublin Region Homeless Executive added there is a limited number of accommodation options for the family involved due to issues arising with previous placements.

However speaking to RTÉ’s Drivetime programme Inner City Helping Homeless Anthony Flynn said the accommodation offered was at sports hall and wasn’t suitable for a large family.
