It really doesn’t get much worse than that – children around the country and waiting to be seen for medical procedures and it appears as though the government couldn’t care less.
The Health Service Executive (HSE) is in absolute shambles, as almost 800 children have been on waiting lists for surgery for over 24 months.
In total, 4,054 children across Ireland have been waiting for more than 6 months for surgery.
HSE boss Paul Reid recently said that ‘this is going to be probably one of the most difficult winters we faced for many years’ after confirming that just over 400 people were in hospital with serious Covid-19-induced disease.
Bed capacity has seemingly not been increased across Ireland in any significant way since the start of the pandemic, if a mere 400 people can put a strain on a national hospital system.
