“We’re meant to be neutral” – Mixed reactions to Martin declaring that “Vladimir Putin is a bully and a thug”

Many people are saying that Ireland is a neutral State and that Micheal Martin does not speak for the entire country with his degrading remarks about Vladimir Putin.

Along with that, people are saying that it’s extremely dangerous to name-call Putin, given the power of Russia and what has transpired over the past 8 days.

The Taoiseach Micheal Martin was speaking in the Dail and said that Vladimir Putin released an unprovoked and unjustified war on the people of Ukraine.

He then went on to say that Vladimir Putin is a bully and a thug, something that many believe a neutral country’s Prime Minister really shouldn’t say.

There was widespread condemnation in the Dail from all parties, again something that many people feel shouldn’t happen in the neutral State.

Either way, the crisis in the Ukraine continues with talks of a resolution said to be ongoing.
