Although a wage increase was been welcomed by many childcare workers, there has been somewhat of a mixed reaction from low paid healthcare workers who say that they too deserve an increase in wages.
Childcare workers are set to get a significant pay increase, with hourly wages increasing to €13 – €17.25.
The Government has reportedly signed off on the increase today, and the raise will kick in on September 15.
Around 27,000 staff will benefit, but sector workers say that this has been needed for sometime and that more healthcare workers also need a similar increase in wages.
