There are growing calls for the next James Bond to be a woman or belong to an ethnic minority but now there are growing calls for a transgender James Bond.
Director Dominic West has said that a transgender James Bond would be a great idea as transgender people serve in the British military.
The incumbent Bond is played by actor Daniel Craig who will retire from the role after his fifth and final portrayal of the martini drinking, womanizing British agent with a license to kill.
A transgender or ethnic minority Bond would be a deviation from the fictional character created by Ian Fleming, who is described as straight man of Scottish heritage in famous literary works.
