World Heath Organisation chief scientist, Soumya Swaminathan, has said during a digital press conference on Monday that there is no evidence at the moment that the Covid-19 vaccines currently being rolled out can stop an individual from getting infected or spreading the disease.
WHO chief scientist, Dr Swaminathan, said:
“I don’t believe we have the evidence on any of the vaccines to be confident that it’s going to prevent people from actually getting the infection and therefore being able to pass it on”
Dr Swaminathan went on to say that as these vaccines are extremely unlikely to eradicate Covid-19 travellers would still need to quarantine when visiting different countries.
