Action star Sylvester Stallone is to grace our screens once more in a fourth Expendables movie and the question on people’s lips now is who he is hoping to get to star in the latest addition to the action franchise that has been running now since 2010,
It was reported this week that the fourth addition is being made possible by financing from China where the Expendables 3 made a killing. There has been a tentative 2017 release date given. This comes amid rumours that there is to be an Expendables TV series as well as a movie with female leads, to be called The Expendabelles, with Sigourney Weaver tipped as the favourite to play the lead.
Series regulars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews and Randy Couture are all expected to return for The Expendables 4. What is not clear yet is if Wesley Snipes, Jet Li, Harrison Ford, Antonio Banderas or Ronda Rousey will return. Fans afraid that the new film will be a straight to DVD affair can rest easy at the news that the new one is to have the biggest budget yet. The first movie hit our screens back in 2010 and was all about bringing aging action stars back to our screens.

As to new guns, the fan favourites to be in the new film at the moment are Steven Seagal, Mr T, Hulk Hogan, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Jackie Chan. Some fan forums have been calling for Michael Biehn from Terminator and Aliens to be included as well as MacGyver star Richard Dean Anderson and even Knight Rider and Baywatch star David Hasselhoff.

Earlier this year Hulk Hogan (62) revealed that he spoke to Stallone about appearing in the new film as a villain : “We’re trying to figure out a way to maybe turn me into the most evil man in the world. Y’know, Stallone gave me my first break and he’s been a great friend. We had a great conversation, talking about the possibilities. ‘Can I still run, can I still jump?’ Well, not as fast or not as high, but I think Hollywood could find a good stunt man to help me out,” he told AMC.  One of Hogan’s last on screen roles was in 2001 in action legend Chuck Norris’s TV series ‘Walker, Texas Ranger.’ Chuck Norris himself came out of retirement to play a part in The Expendables II.

Unlike The Rock, the Hulk is still best known as a professional wrestler. His movie role include the part of Thunderlips alongside Stallone and Mr T in Rocky III in 1982 and in Suburban Commando in 1991. Will he join the cast? We will have to wait to see who Stallone has in his sights to join him for his next big screen outing as Barney Ross.
