Widespread concern as leading company recalls over 3 million baby cups after a number of toddlers become seriously ill

There is widespread concern in the UK and the U.S. after a leading company has recalled three million baby cups after they received a number complaints that they are making children ill.

The cups created by Tommee Tippee have been recalled after a number of concerned parents made complaints informing them that  mould is accumulating in the valve of their cups.

According to reports a total of 70 children have become seriously ill after using the product. The  company say they believe that a significant amount of mould can build up in the hart of the valve causing bacteria to accumulate.

It is understood some children have experienced symptoms such as diarrhoea and vomiting after coming into contact with the bacteria build up created by the mould.

The company have since released a statement clarifying the issue, which reads:

“We’d like to assure you that child health and wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do, and we’re taking the current concerns around our Sippee cups very seriously.

“We sell millions of Sippee cups globally but we know from recent social media posts, that some people have had problems cleaning the valve.

“For this we sincerely apologise and we are actively following up on any concerns raised.”

The also company say they have recalled several different types of cups including the First Sips Transition cup, Trainer Suppee cup, Sippee cup (including Cute Quips), Sportee bottle and Insulated Swiggle/Sippee tumblers.
