Wife-killer Eamonn Lillis walks free today

Eamonn Lillis case

Eamonn Lillis is expected will be released from prison today, after serving a sentence of just over five years for the killing of his wife Celine Cawley.

He killed his wife during a row at the family home on Windgate Road, in the north Dublin suburb of Howth, in December 2008, and first claimed an intruder had committed the crime. He was subsequently convicted of manslaughter and jailed in February 2010.

Mr. Lillis qualified for a remission of a quarter of his sentence due to good behavior, and he is expected to leave Wheatfield Prison a free man today.
