Tragedy yesterday as a young female pedestrian was caught in a fatal collision in Castlebar, Co.Mayo.
Garda reports say the crash happened around 5pm yesterday evening and the young woman was rushed to Mayo General Hospital where she sadly passed away this Friday morning.
The driver of the car in question, an 83 year old woman and the other passenger in the car, a young male, were also rushed to hospital despite their minor injuries.
The collision happened along the N60 Castlebar to Claremorris Road which was closed for a short time yesterday while the Gardaí collected forensic evidence, however has since re-opened.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the accident to call Castlebar Garda Station on 094 9038200 or to call the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
