
GardaĆ have issued an appeal for witnesses after a young woman sustained life-threatening injuries following an assault in Co Tipperary on Saturday evening.
The woman, in her 20s and originally from Limerick, was discovered with severe head injuries at the roadside on the R494 in Birdhill, Co Tipperary, just before 5.30 pm, reports Breaking News.
She was airlifted by a Coast Guard Rescue Helicopter to University Hospital Limerick, where she remained in a critical condition and was fighting for her life.
āGardaĆ and emergency services responded to the incident in which a woman, aged in her 20s, was seriously injured. She was airlifted to hospital where she remains in a critical condition,ā said a Garda spokeswoman, reports Breaking News.
āThe scene remains preserved for a technical examination, and the road remains closed with local diversions in place,ā
Appealing for witnesses, the spokeswoman added: āAny road users who were on the R494 between Birdhill and the M7 motorway between 5 pm and 6 pm on Saturday, 21st March 2026 and may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to investigating GardaĆ,ā reports Breaking News.
