Woman arrested on suspicion of child neglect after a beautiful 14-week-old baby girl dies




A woman has been arrested following the death of a baby girl.

Emergency services were called to North Reddish in Greater Manchester just before 11am on Saturday, April 18, after reports of a “concern for welfare”, reports The Mirror.

Witnesses described a large emergency response on Howden Close, where police officers and paramedics attended the scene.

The baby, believed to be around 14 weeks old, was taken to hospital from the property but sadly died despite efforts to save her, reports The Mirror.

A 36-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect and remains in custody as investigations continue.

A police cordon is still in place on Howden Close while enquiries are carried out, with detectives confirming the investigation is at an early stage, reports The Mirror.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “Emergency services were called to reports of a concern for welfare in North Reddish at 10:51am on Saturday 18 April.

“Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the baby sadly died at hospital. A 36 year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect and is in custody.

“A scene will remain in place while we conduct our investigation, which is still in its early stages. We are keeping an open mind and following all available lines of enquiry at this time,” reports The Mirror.

Witnesses also reported seeing a significant number of police vehicles in the area during the incident.
