A woman who befriended the murderer of her mother and her cousin, lobbied for clemency for him and later found him employment upon his release from prion has herself been brutally murdered by the man.

Thirty-nine-year-old Travis Lewis was convicted at the age of 17 for the 1996 murders of Sally Snowden McKay (75) and her cousin, Joseph “Lee” Baker (52) at McKay’s Arkansas home, receiving 28 years imprisonment after the McKay family pleaded for him to be spared the death penalty.

After being granted parole in 2018 the daughter of Sally Snowden McKay, Martha McKay gave the murderer a job at her property, the same home where he murdered her mother and cousin which she had converted into a bed and breakfast.

McKay was a long-time practising Buddhist and felt compelled by “spiritual obligation” to look after the murderer of her mother but after firing the man whom she had accused of stealing $10,000 from her, he stabbed and beat the 63-year-old McKay to death.

After a police pursuit for Lewis his corpse was pulled from a nearby lake.
