Woman in Dublin rape case says she didn’t invite men upstairs to have sex – she ended up in the bedroom with four men

A woman who has alleged she was sexually assaulted by four men has denied suggestions she invited the men upstairs to her bedroom because she agreed to have sex with them, reports RTE.

Four men with addresses in Dublin allegedly raped and sexually assaulted her at her home on December 8-9, 2018.

Reporting limitations apply to the identity of all study participants.

The first accused, 25, pleaded not guilty to verbal rape and sexual assault.

The second accused, aged 25, pleaded not guilty to rape and sexual assault.

A third defendant, 23, pleaded not guilty to two counts of rape, one count of verbal rape and one count of sexual assault.

A fourth defendant, 24, pleaded not guilty to two counts of rape and sexual assault.

The woman said that the first accused reached her house and though he was only waiting for her, there were three other men with him, reports RTE.

She said she asked him what they were doing there.

The men enter the house and there is a discussion about “weed” and ask if she has anything to drink.

She said it was usually cold downstairs in her house, so the group later moved upstairs, where it was usually warmer.

Today she agreed with Dominic McGinn SC, defending, that messages had been exchanged between her and the first defendant before he came home, but she refused to accept the advice he gave her friends.

“Yes, I wanted to impress him,” she said, reports RTE.

“It didn’t cross your mind that sex would be on the cards?” counsel asked, reports RTE.

The woman replied that she did not know and added: “I did think he was messing but I will admit that I did dress to impress him,” reports RTE.
