A woman is in hospital with serious injuries after being struck by a van in an Irish county.
The incident happened at around 9am today in Mountmellick, Co Laois.
The victim, a female pedestrian in her 70s, was taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar for treatment.
Gardai are asking witnesses to contact Portlaoise Garda Station on 057 867 4100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
