Woman sadly killed in Donegal crash gets named locally as town mourns loss of beloved mother and grandmother

Locally, Rose Byrne has been identified as the lady who died in a horrific traffic accident in Buncrana, County Donegal, reports The Mirror.

Mrs. Byrne, who was from Mill Brae in the town and was in her 80s, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, January 14, when a vehicle collided with two pedestrians. Following the crash, Mrs. Byrne was transported to Letterkenny University Hospital, where she tragically died on Sunday.

It is known that when the tragedy happened at Lower Main Street in Buncrana, Mrs. Byrne (née Gallagher) was with a family member, reports The Mirror.

The Gardaí are still urging those who saw the incident to come forward. On Tuesday, January 14, road users who were on Main Street in Buncrana between 2 and 3 p.m. are asked to get in touch with the Gardaí if they have any information or dash-cam footage. A post-mortem examination has been scheduled and the coroner has been informed.

The beloved mother of John, Valerie, Stella, Dermot, and Emer, the late Mrs. Byrne was the spouse of Thomas Byrne, reports The Mirror.

Dermot, Mrs. Byrne’s son, is a well-known musician who has performed with a variety of well-known performers, such as Sharon Shannon, The Stunning, and the well-known traditional band Altan.

Her devoted husband, sons, daughters, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her extended family, friends, and neighbours all sincerely lament her passing and will always miss her.

The details of her funeral are still pending, reports The Mirror.
