Health officials report that over 30,000 Palestinians have died since the Israel-Hamas conflict began.
Witnesses said that Israeli forces opened fire on a sizable gathering of Palestinians hurrying to remove food from an aid vehicle in Gaza City, reports Breaking News.
While acknowledging that the IDF had opened fire, Israeli officials claimed that the mob had advanced in a menacing manner.
“Dozens were killed and injured from pushing, trampling, and being run over by the trucks,” the military stated in a statement, reports Breaking News.
According to US President Joe Biden, the US is currently investigating what transpired.
He responded, “I know it will,” when asked if the deaths would make efforts to mediate a truce more difficult, reports Breaking News.
Israel began an air, sea, and land operation in response to Hamas’s strike on October 7th, with its first targets being Gaza City and the adjacent regions in the north of the territory.
A few hundred thousand Palestinians are thought to still reside in the region, which has seen extensive destruction and has been mainly cut off from the rest of the world during the conflict, despite the fact that many of them fled the Israeli assault in the north.
This week saw the first significant assistance delivery to northern Gaza in a month—trucks laden with food—according to authorities on Wednesday, reports Breaking News.
