Interesting news for plane spotters, as the titan of the skies, the Antonov An-225 Mriya (‘Dream’ in Ukrainian), landed at Shannon at 3:30am this morning for a scheduled stopover. The aircraft is on its way from the United States to France.

Due to its gigantic size, Mriya needs six engines to lift it off the ground.

This is the plane’s second visit to Shannon. It first landed at the airport in May 2013.

Mriya will remain at Shannon until 10pm tonight.
