Yes, we’ll listen to them: Dublin 4 residents celebrate as migrants will not be planted in their area

Dublin 4 residents are celebrating this morning after plans for migrants to be planted in a well-known hotel in the area have been scrapped.

In a sigh of relief for Dublin 4 homeowners, the former Sachs Hotel in Donnybrook will not be repurposed to house asylum-seekers, the Department of Integration has confirmed.
Local residents, who feared a drastic drop in property values, erupted in jubilation, with one likening the news to some of the best news ever.
Over the past three weeks, a determined group of locals had distributed over 1,000 flyers to rally opposition to the plan for the landmark Morehampton Road site.
The department’s decision marks a victory for the community, ending weeks of uncertainty and speculation in this affluent neighborhood.
Meanwhile, residents in areas such as Coolock, Finglas and East Wall say that the government listens to people in D4 but not their area.
