The Health Service Executive has announced that a catch-up vaccination scheme for the MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccine will begin this month, reports RTE.
In a statement to RTÉ News, the HSE said: “We are aiming to commence [the programme] following the St Patrick’s bank holiday weekend. It will prioritise children and young adults, healthcare workers and under-served groups such as refugees, applicants seeking protection and the homeless community,” reports RTE.
According to the HSE, these categories’ uptake rates are currently lower.
Stephen Donnelly, the minister of health, declared earlier this week that the government had approved financing for an MMR catch-up immunisation plan.
GPs and HSE vaccination teams will deliver the vaccinations, reports RTE.
