A 22-year-old British soldier who was taking part in an anti-poaching mission in Malawi has been killed by an elephant, according to the Ministry of Defence.
The deceased, named as Mathew Talbot, was attached to the 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards. It is understood that Malawi was his first operational deployment.
The circumstances surrounding the incident have not yet been disclosed.
