
A young Irish man who tragically lost his life while holidaying in Portugal will be laid to rest in Ireland later this week, reports The Mirror.
Dylan McCahey, aged 22, sadly died on May 17 while swimming in a pool in Portugal. A graduate in biomedical science, he was originally from Magheracloone, Sherlock, Co Monaghan.
Dylan will be deeply missed by his devoted parents PJ and Geraldine, his siblings, grandmothers, extended family, and a large network of friends, reports The Mirror.
Devastated friends remembered him as “one of life’s true gentlemen” who had a warm personality and left a lasting impact.

One friend wrote: “Dylan always made me laugh and always had a smile on his face,” reports The Mirror.
Another penned: “As a mother to a son similar in age to your beautiful boy I can only say that my heart aches for all who loved and knew Dylan,” reports The Mirror.
One more said: “I was heartbroken to hear about Dylan’s passing. Though I didn’t know him closely, I know how much he meant to my son, and how deeply his loss is being felt. It’s impossible to imagine the pain you’re going through, but please know that our thoughts are with you. We’re holding you in our hearts, and wishing you strength and comfort in this unimaginable time,” reports The Mirror.
Dylan will repose at his family home in Tonaneave, Monaghan, on Thursday, May 29, from 3pm to 8pm, and again on Friday, May 30, during the same hours.
His funeral cortège will depart from his home on Saturday, May 31, and proceed to St Peter and St Paul’s Church, Lower Magheracloone, for a funeral mass at 10am, followed by burial in the nearby cemetery. The service will be available to view online. May he rest in peace, reports The Mirror.
