A man in his 20s was robbed and dragged from his car in Dún Laoghaire on Friday evening when a man attempted to hijack his vehicle.
Shortly after 5:30pm in the West Pier car park, the man was dragged from his car, assaulted and the attackers retrieved his keys.
However, nearby gardai reacted quickly and those who attempted to hijack the car ran away.
Subsequently, a man in his twenties was arrested in connection with the incident and was taken to Dún Laoghaire Garda Station where he questioned but released without charge pending further investigation.
