After the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Zelensky addressed the Dail this morning, RTE News interviewed a number of Ukrainian refugees who are living in a hotel in Lisdoonvarna, Co Clare.
Perhaps some viewers were surprised to see a number of men amongst the crowd watching the television.
It has been widely reported that the vast majority of Ukrainian men stayed in their country to fight, some reports even claim that they have to stay and fight – but that isn’t the case.
One such young man, Saif Uddin, whose name appears to be Arabic, but obviously has Ukrainian citizenship as he’s living here as a Ukrainian refugee, voiced his support for Zelensky.
All Ukrainians coming into Ireland are given free medical cards and full social welfare.
Many people on social are querying the numbers of refugees that we’re taking into the country.
Ukrainians who’ve fled the war watched their President’s address from their hotel in Lisdoonvarna in Co Clare where more than 500 refugees are being accommodated. | More: https://t.co/zA459rshDb pic.twitter.com/52SZC4tYeZ
