Young woman in Drogheda says she was spiked and felt “powerless” in a venue, finding a needle stuck in her arm

A mother of a young woman in Drogheda, Co Louth has taken to social media to warn other women around the country about the dangers of spiking.

The woman said that her daughter felt “powerless” in a venue at the weekend.

She said that luckily her friend managed to get her outside where she got help from a bouncer. Together they got the young woman taken home in a taxi.

It’s understood that the young woman did not have that much to drink and that it wasn’t drink-related.

When she got home, her mother said that she discovered a small needle still stuck in her arm and that she had indeed been spiked.

Spiking is where predominantly, but not always, women get a needle stuck into their arm and they lose functionality – leaving them vulnerable for evil thugs ready to pounce.

The woman said that she hopes the story will go viral and that it’ll keep other woman safe and that they’ll be on their guard for any similar events.
