Is it ethical for parents to put their children into vaccine trials?
It has been highlighted on Newstalk that children as young as six will be taking part in a clinical trial by Oxford/AstraZeneca to test the vaccine’s efficacy in children.
Trials will run simultaneously at Oxford University sites in London, Southampton and Bristol.
Up to 300 children, aged between 6 and 17 will take part in the vaccine trial which parent or guardians have to sign their children up to as they are under the age of consent and / or age of understanding.
Up to 240 children will receive the vaccine and the others will get a control meningitis jab.
