Youtube has joined Facebook and Instagram in banning RT News from being posted on its platform in Europe. People who try and access RT’s social media channels in Europe are being met with a blank page across Europe, with the companies declaring its removal is due to the Ukrainian crisis.
The EU will ban more Russian media organizations including Russia Today and Sputnik, RT has reported as Brussels move to silence outlets giving people an alternate perspective on the war in Ukraine.
The anti-Russian narrative and lack of nuance in reporting the conflict in Eastern Europe is uniform across corporate media outlets on the continent and in North America but Russian state media such as Russia Today which broadcasts in numerous languages presents a thorn in the side of western governments.
Now with the EU moving to ban these media outlets it is hoped there will be little resistance to the moves by the bloc to further sanction Russia which is likely to incur economic pain on Europeans.
