A zookeeper in Madrid, Spain, has been seriously injured after being attacked by a Gorilla.
It is understood the 46 year old employee sustained a head injury, chest trauma, multiple fractures and two broken arms during the attack which occurred on Sunday morning.
According to local media reports, the zookeeper was attacked by the gorilla named Malabo after the 200kg animal gained access to an area that should have been locked.
It is believed that the employee was carrying out routine feeding and cleaning duties when the incident occurred.
The Zoo say Malabo was immediately sedated following the attack and is currently in a calm condition.
Meanwhile a police investigation has begun in order to determine how the Gorilla gained access to the restricted area.
