Police authorities in Belgium have confirmed that a man has been shot and killed after he attacked two soldiers with a knife in the city of Brussels on Friday evening.
Local media say the 30-year-old man, who is not know to authorities died as a result of his injuries in hospital a short time after the shooting.
It is understood the man was shot by soldiers after he attacked them with a weapon, which is believed to have been a machete.
Police say they are treating the incident as an attempted terrorist murder.
