Govt say more accommodation is expected to become available for asylum seekers

Later this week, more lodging should become available to help asylum seekers who don’t currently have a place to stay, reports RTE.

About 70 tents have been set up by asylum seekers at the International Protection Office in Dublin along the Grand Canal bank.

It happened only a few days after more than a hundred tents were removed from the Mount Street business area, reports RTE.

Over the past week, an unprecedented number of people seeking safe haven have visited the International Protection Office in search of refuge.

One day, 290 individuals showed up instead of the 200 that were anticipated.

It is known that those without housing are placed on a waiting list, and additional space is expected to become available this week in two batches, reports RTE.
