A video on social media has shown the terrible moment that a 17-yr-old’s clothes caught fire as he was running near a Bonfire last night in Belfast.
The incident happened in Silverstream Crescent, Ballysillan, North Belfast as a Bonfire was lit to mark the 12th of July.
Bystanders did their best to help the young man, roaring at him to stop and roll in an effort to put out the flames. It’s understood that emergency crews arrived at the scene around 12:40am to administer first aid but subsequently rushed the boy to hospital where his condition is said to be very serious.
He sustained burns to his face and boy and is being treated in hospital for his injuries, which thankfully are not life threatening.
The PSNI say that they’re opening an investigation into how the terrible incident occurred in the first place.
