A man and woman have died after several vehicles collided on the N28 Cork to Ringaskiddy main road.
The accident, involving several cars and a tractor-trailer, happened around 11:00 this morning.
The man and woman, believed to be in their 80s, were occupants of one of the cars and were pronounced dead at the scene. They have since been moved to the morgue at Cork University Hospital.
The driver of a second car was taken by ambulance to Cork University Hospital. His injuries are not described as life-threatening.
The drivers of the van and the third car involved in the collision received medical examinations at the scene but did not require hospital treatment.
Extensive traffic diversions have been put in place to and from the town of Ringaskiddy and the Port of Cork terminal.
