Rescue teams are frantically looking to locate a missing P-28 plane that has a number of people on board and has gone missing following a take off from Wellesbourne, Warwickshire.
It’s understood that the plane was bound for Le Touquet in Northern France when it went off radar somewhere over the English Channel.
The French Coastguard said the aircraft has worryingly disappeared and a major search for the plane is underway.
Teams were unable to locate any debris or aircraft wreckage with the search suspended due to the lack of light when it will resume at first light tomorrow.
Both British and French coastguards are co-ordinating the search.
All ships sailing in the area have been asked to search for any signs of the plane and report anything they see immediately to French authorities.
It’s understood that the plan is similar to that of the 2019, Cardiff footballer Emiliano Sala was killed in when he was travelling over the English Channel.
