Thick black smoke can be seen over the City of London as a huge fire burns in a high-rise building.
Footage on social media shows flames coming out of an upper floor of the Crawford Building on Whitechapel High Street.
It is not yet known what caused the fire or if anyone in the building was injured but it’s understood that it’s at least party made up of residential property.
A London Fire Department spokesperson said that ten fire engines and 70 firefighters are dealing with a highly visible blaze in Whitechapel High Street.
