Gardai have proclaimed that they’ll be out in force for the rest of the bank holiday weekend after what was described as a night of mayhem in Dublin city centre on Friday night with several people arrested.
Throngs on youths filled the streets, drinking, partying and sadly ending up brawling in many areas around the city centre.
A large fight broke out half way up South William St even though gardai had closed off the street.
Revellers, many of whom were heavily intoxicated, also got embroiled in altercations with gardai, who were still dealing with rows at 2am in the south side of the city centre.
Gardai say that they’ll be out today, tomorrow and Monday, and will use all force necessary to ensure guidelines are met including taking people’s drink and arresting people.
