Gardai in Co Cork have begun an investigation after a woman was seriously injured following a stabbing incident at her home.
It is understood that the woman aged in her 50s was critically injured following the incident which occurred in Ballycoughlin, at approximately 1:30pm on Friday afternoon.
Gardai say the woman was taken to Cork University Hospital.
They also say a man aged in his 30s has been arrested in connection with the incident and he is currently being questioned at Bandon Garda Station.
