The Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan is said to be extremely concerned today after the Health Department reported some 443 new cases of Covid-19 in the Republic of Ireland.
43 patients are hospitalized for the virys, 13 of them are currently being treated in intensive care.
In Northern Ireland, 298 positive cases of Covid-19 have been reported and no deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours. A total of 1,996,954 vaccines were administered there.
