Gardai have launched a major investigation following a fatal assault in an Irish county.
The victim, a female in her 30s, was found with serious injuries inside a property in Mountmellick, Co Laois, shortly after 5pm. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
A man in his 30s has been arrested in connection with this incident.
