The people of Mullingar are set to join their compatriots across Ireland on Thursday 2nd of February in protest at the government’s plans to set up Fifteen Columb Barracks in Mullingar to accommodate 120 single male asylum seekers.
Locals are saying that absolutely no consultation has happened with people living in the community.
The Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth has confirmed the move to accommodate the men who are in Ireland claiming International Protection the West Meath Examiner reported.
In the month of January, Ireland saw a drop in the number of Ukrainian refugees seeking refuge in the country but yet another dramatic increase in the number of asylum seekers seeking International Protection, the vast majority being single men.
Now on the foot of a rising resistance to the migrant plantations spreading like wildfire across the country the people of Mullingar plan to rally and protest this latest unwanted imposition of unvetted, fighting aged males.
The 120 single men are reportedly only going to be accommodated at the barracks for three weeks before being moved to more permanent accommodation however, prefabricated buildings will also later be installed in the barracks to accommodate Ukrainian refugees and non-Ukrainian asylum seekers for a longer period of time.
The planting of dozens of single, unvetted male asylum seekers has the people of Mullingar on edge with fears the town may become a nightmarish and dangerous place like Killarney which has been swamped with asylum seeking males.
All across Ireland the resistance to these plantations continues to grow but the government remain resolute in pursing this demographic shifting agenda.
