
A woman in her fifties was seriously injured in an assault at Holy Cross Church in Summerhill, Tramore, Co. Waterford.
The attack took place inside the main body of the church during the rosary prayers before the 10am Mass. She was rushed to University Hospital Waterford with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
A man in his thirties was arrested shortly afterwards at a nearby house, where Gardaí seized a knife. He remains in custody at a Garda station in Co. Waterford.
