Late Friday night, emergency services have rushed to the former ESB building in East Wall where migrants have been placed.
A large number of Dublin Fire Brigade, gardai and other personnel are at the scene.
The Liberal has been informed by members of the East Wall committee, residents of the Lighthouse apartments and a member of staff at the building as to the reasoning behind the incident.
It’s believed that a migrant living in the building was cooking in his room where a very small fire broke out while cooking leading to a small amount of smoke.
As a precaution, residents of the building were evacuated for safety reasons.
A member of the emergency services has told The Liberal off the record that the fire alarm system in the building either was broken or didn’t go off. It’s believed there was a fault on the control panel but a break glass alarm had been activated
The above information has been strictly conveyed to The Liberal off the record and is not official comment from gardai or emergency services at this time.
