?BREAKING: The first town in Ireland to announce its Christmas lights switch-on event has been cancelled

It would appear as though Dr Tony Holohan, Micheal Martin, Leo Varadkar, Eamon Ryan and Stephen Donnelly are determined to cancel the most wonderful time of the year.

The first town in Ireland to “officially” announce that its annual switching-on of the Christmas lights has been cancelled.

Drogheda in County Louth has confirmed that this year’s event has been called off due to “the number of rising cases” in the town.

It always saw larges crowds stand on West Street to see the Christmas Tree being switched on outside St Peter’s Church, while Santy then took a river boat up the River Boyne and arrived in Scotch Hall.

It’s not doubt just the first of many such announcements that will be made around the country.
