?BREAKING: Will Smith has released a statement in relation to “the slap”

A-list actor Will Smith has finally broken his silence after what happened at the Oscar’s ceremony on Sunday night in Los Angeles.

He issued a publicly apology to Chris Rock alongside everyone who attended and everyone who watched it around the world. Smith said that it wasn’t the man he’s trying to become and that violence was wrong.

The full apology is here:

The actor genuinely got angry at the Oscars in LA on Sunday night and made it known in front of the world.

Comedian Chris Rock made a jibe about Smith’s wife, Jada having a buzzcut haircut for a role.

The reason Smith got offended is that his wife had alopecia, a problem that has seen her lose quite a lot of hair recently. The camera panned to Jada who appeared to role her eyes at the joke, but her husband decided to take things into his own hands by walking up onto the stage and heavily slapping Rock in the face.

It was an open slap but a hard and forceful one that left Rock blatantly shook. 54-yr-old Smith later apologised to his fellow nominees but not to Rock.

The LAPD told reporters that they’re aware of a physical altercation between two males at the Oscars but that one individual has said he does not want to press charges.
