It’s understood that those who are eligible to receive a welfare Christmas bonus have started to do so today.
The Christmas Bonus will be paid to welfare recipients in early December, it has been confirmed.
The bonus amounts to an extra 100% of the corresponding weekly payment.
The Government estimates that around 1.4 million people across Ireland will receive the bonus, with a normal welfare recipient receiving around €204 a week.
