It has been reported that officials from Dublin Port and the Gardai have seized 11 puppies following the search of a car attempting to board a ferry heading to the UK recently.

Gardai say the puppies have since been taken into care. The news comes after Security at Dublin Port and An Garda Siochána conducted a routine search at the port on Thursday morning. It is understood that the pups were concealed in a car driven by a woman who did not have the appropriate veterinary and transportation documentation.

Gardai say the puppies are currently in the care of the Dogs Trust Ireland group.
