11-yr-old boy left with chemical burns after begging his mother to allow him get a henna tattoo

An 11-yr-old boy who pestered his mother to allow him get a henna tattoo of the evolution of man has been left with chemical burns. Charlie Gaughan was on holiday with his mother and grandmother when he noticed a tattoo stand.

It’s understood that the boy wanted the €15 body art showing an ape progressing through to a skateboarder on the last day of the holiday so that he could go swimming.

After pestering his mother for some time, she eventually allowed him get the tattoo.

That tattoo took about 10 minutes and initially Charlie was happy, but back at home in Greater Manchester, the boy’s arm started to get extremely sore and he had to be rushed to hospital where the burns unit accessed he had chemical burns on his skin.

The doctor gave the boy’s mother a special cream and an antibiotic to clear the infection. He more than likely won’t be left with a scar but the boy’s mother has urged other parents to not allow their children get such tattoos as they don’t know the extent to how clean the premise used really are.
