13-yr-old thug stole €250 jacket from another 13-yr-old at knifepoint in County Clare, court hears

A court has heard that two years ago, at the Fairgreen in Ennis, County Clare, a 13-year-old boy had a jacket valued at €250 taken from him at knifepoint by another 13-year-old, reports The Mirror.

The accused, who is currently 16 years old, “had committed armed robbery when aged 13 and he was barely at the age of criminal responsibility,” according to Judge Alec Gabbett of Ennis District Court.

The adolescent has entered a guilty plea in the instance of stealing a black padded Moncler jacket worth €250 from a male victim at Fairgreen, Lifford, Ennis on February 26, 2022, about six o’clock in the evening. Section 14 of the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act 2001 is violated by the offence, reports The Mirror.

In addition, the Ennis adolescent entered a guilty plea to using an orange flick knife—which was illegally created and had the potential to do significant harm—during the heist at the Fairgreen in order to threaten someone else. Section 11 of the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act was broken by this crime.

The adolescent said to Judge Gabbett, “I lost it,” when asked where the jacket was today.

Garda Roisin Collins said that the 13-year-old had held the knife up to the boy’s chest. The weapon was found in the boy’s house after a Garda check, reports The Mirror.
